San Quentin Review
Released by Nolimit City, San Quentin is a 243 ways to win and 5×2 reel slot with an extra 2 caged lines added at the top and bottom of the reels. The Swedes came up with an outrageous theme which, if not for the excellent bonus features, could have been the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons.
They based San Quentin on the notorious prison and now invite you to sharpen your shivs and step behind the bars where Crazy Joe Labrador and Beefy Dick await. There’s some strong imagery used in the game, and if you prefer something lighter, Punk Rocker also has the xWays mystery symbols, enhancers, expanding symbols and Jumping wilds.

San Quentin Bonus Features
San Quentin comes preset with savage volatility and cut-throat bonus features, including Razor split and xWays enhancers, split wilds and Lockdown Spins with Jumping wild multipliers. The xWays symbols contribute towards increased ways to win and razors add progressive multipliers to your Jumping wilds. But until you hit the Lockdown Spins feature with 5 guard tower scatters, you’re only just scratching the surface of this grim prison slot.
You have three types of wilds here, the regular wild, split wild and Jumping wild. The Jumping wild operates during the Lockdown Spins bonus features so we’ll talk more about it further down. The regular wild depicted as a prison guard badge, substitutes for all symbols. The split wild splits all the standard symbols on the same reel in two while increasing the win ways.
Scatters are represented by a guard tower symbol. They can land on any reels during the base game, and you can trigger the Lockdown Spins round with 3 or more scatters. During the Lockdown Spins round, the tower scatters only land on reels with unopened Enhancer Cells, but you’ll only need to land 1 or 2 scatters in the main game to open them.
Running across the top and bottom reels, the caged cells hide more ways to win potential and thus more winning opportunities. When triggered with the tower scatters, two of the cells, the top and the bottom of the same reel will open up to reveal rewards, and the triggering scatter(s) will transform into a wild symbol.
The rewards range from xWays, wilds, Razor split and one of the premium 5 inmate symbols. The xWays symbol produces a regular symbol, stacked 4 symbols high on the respective reel. Landing xWays on both the top and the bottom cells will see you benefiting from two stacks of 4 symbols high. The Razor split symbols will split all regular symbols in two or four if you unveil the symbol in both the top and bottom cells.
3, 4 or 5 triggering scatters will award 1, 2 or 3 Jumping wilds. The number of free spins is given randomly by adding up numbers revealed in the Enhancer Cells. On every spin, Jumping wilds will jump to a random reel position.
A random convict will also be chosen which will be awarded a multiplier depending on how many of these symbols land. For example, landing 5 of the Ace inmate premiums of a kind will apply a 5x multiplier for that symbol, increasing the symbol’s value 5 times. So Ace’s base payout of 5x for 5 symbols will now be worth 25x.
During the Lockdown Spins, all the Enhancer Cells are open, and you no longer need to land bonus symbols to earn the 4 enhancers mentioned above. What you’ll want to look out for in the open cells is the razor split symbols. If your Jumping wilds appear on the same reels as the razor enhancers, they’ll then be split to give you a 2x up to a max of 512x multiplier.
San Quentin Jackpot
The game doesn’t hold a jackpot, but comes with an astonishing max potential of 150,000x your bet. The only way to achieve this win is to trigger the Lockdown Spins feature with 5 bonus symbols which could cost you a lot of money.
