Having been known for dipping their feet into the realm of Norse-themed slots, Playtech presents another epic saga with Storms of Ice. The game features a minimal set of features, but its inclusion in the provider’s Powerplay Progressive Jackpot means that you can walk away with a bountiful reward.
Through its use of Norse symbols and designs, Playtech have managed to bring the Viking theme to life in an interesting way. Sure, the visuals still reek of cliché Norse motifs, but the icy atmosphere that engulfs the reels lends a different tone to the game.
So, what exactly should players expect from this Norse voyage? Is the storm worth sailing into or should you avoid these waters? Check out our slot review below to find out!

Playtech built Storms of Ice’s Wild symbols as the game’s core feature. The main bonus, Golden Wild Re-Spins focuses on the boosting symbols. The slot itself doesn’t carry a huge amount of potential with its 2,500x max win cap, but the inclusion of PowerPlay Progressive Jackpots means that you can leave these reels with way more than what you bargained for.
Featuring as the main mechanic in the game, Wild symbols show up in two varieties, Silver and Gold. Both land as 1×3 stacked symbols that substitute themselves for any paying symbols that can complete a winning combination. They also carry a x8 value when landing 5 in a row. Furthermore, landing a Gold Wild in full view will trigger the game’s main bonus feature, Golden Wild Re-spins.
Storms of Ice doesn’t feature any generic Scatter symbols. Instead, its bonus feature is triggered through Gold Wild symbols that must land in full view on their respective reel.
Upon triggering, the Golden Wild Re-Spin feature will turn any partially landed Stacked Wild symbols into individual Wilds. Next, the Ice King himself shows up on the right-hand side of the reels, locking in all wild symbols in view and re-spinning the other positions. With each re-spin, the Wild symbols move one position to the left. These re-spins continue until there are no more Wild symbols in view on the reels. Additionally, the bonus also comes with an incremental multiplier, which increases by x1, x2, x3 and x5 with each re-spin. The multiplier is then applied to the total winning sum.
Forming part of Playtech’s PowerPlay network, Storms of Ice offers players a set of progressive jackpot prizes. The jackpot itself may be triggered at random with every spin and 3 available pots can be won, offering the following rewards:
Storms of Ice doesn’t like to give players too many frequent wins with its high volatility setting. On the other hand, RTP is decently clocked at 96.47%, offering a balanced set of numbers. Shame about the low potential, which is capped at x2,500.
