Well there it is, the most popular video slots in the world based on our online traffic. As mentioned above, what stood out for us was the presence of some quite old and lesser known slots that have outranked trending and highly-showcased games. Still, none of these slots are too far off the radar and many of the slot veterans in our audience will certainly recognise most, if not all, of them.

There are also a few trusty classics in the list that always find their way into top slots lists such as NetEnt’s Starburst and Gonzo’s Quest and Novomatic’s Book of Ra (one of the more original Indiana Jones copycats out there). Find out more about each slot below:

Visits versus Search Volume

Many slot players like yourselves are looking to read reviews on the best and latest slots. Maybe you want to read about a famous slot like Starburst after hearing about it from your friends. Or perhaps you want to find out how all the features work on the latest Megaways slot!

Whatever game review you’re looking for, we bet you’re searching for it on Google. After all, how else did you get to this page? Well, have you ever wondered how many other players are searching for the same slot reviews as you?

In the table below, you can see how many people are searching for the top slots in 2020 each month (avg. search volume) versus how many of those players end up on JohnSlots, reading our trusted reviews (avg. visits per month):

SLOTAVG. VISITS vs AVG. SEARCH VOLUME
1. Goblin’s Cave (Playtech)224 visits / 5400 searches
2. Starburst (NetEnt)140 visits /2570 searches
3. Sunrise Reels (Realistic Games)99 visits /30* searches
4. Private Eye (Microgaming)97 visits /90**  searches
5. Mega Moolah (Microgaming)96 visits /4960 searches
6. Immortal Romance (Microgaming)91 visits /1520 searches
7. Book of Ra (Novomatic)75 visits /2360 searches

9. 9 Pots Of Gold (Microgaming)60 visits /180 searches
10. Thunderstruck 2 (Microgaming)56 visits /730 searches

* The search volume (30 searches per month) for Sunrise Reels only takes into account the number of players searching specifically for this slot by Realistic Games. Many other people read our review after searching for other things in Google, such as ‘sunrise slots’.

**Likewise, the low search volume in this case only includes players who are searching specifically for Private Eye slot by Microgaming. Up to 90,000 people every month go into Google, type ‘Private Eye’ and press enter. However, it’s impossible for us to know how many of them are looking for the slot rather than a PI to help them spy on their spouse!

Top Video Slot Game Providers 2020

X: What a Game Provider is not – Santa. The nice white-bearded and red-robed Christmas guy may have chosen to gift you with a SNES console when you were a little 90s rugrat, but, in the context of online slots, Santa is not a game provider.

: What a Game Provider is – Online Casino Game Developers. That’s right, just like EA Sports is the developer that brings out a slightly-different version of Fifa Football every year, it’s the casino game providers such as NetEnt, Microgaming and Play’n Go that fill up online casinos’ game libraries.

The Slots Players are Looking For in 2020

If we were to take the results per country and make a conclusion, we could say that players have mostly been looking for new slots in 2020 rather than for timeless classics. With new titles such as 9 Pots of Gold, The Dog House Megaways and Absolootly Mad Mega Moolah coming up trumps.

However, when we look at this data collectively, this doesn’t seem to the be case overall. In fact, players are actually more interested in high RTP slots, such as Goblin’s Cave, as well as ageless successes, including Starburst and Immortal Romance. These findings are also reflected in the monthly search volume figures for 2020.

Who knows what the searches of 2021 will look like? Visit JohnSlots next year to find out!
