Tombstone RIP Review
Where do we start! Tombstone RIP from Nolimit City is yet another scandalous addition to their infamous slots collection. It’s a follow up to their rather tame edition of the original Tombstone, released in 2019, but with a couple of sinister tweaks. For starters, there’s a massive difference in graphics which, for sure, won’t be to everyone’s taste. Built on 5 reels and a 2-3-3 3-1 reel set up with 180 paylines, the game will take you on a whirlwind voyage to the Wild West in the 1800s. It won’t be a pleasant trip, but after all, lynching and hangings were a popular choice for dispensing justice back in the day. However, the theme is far from the most brutal part of Tombstone RIP. It’s the insane maths model that you’ll have to watch out for if you want to get anywhere in this game. Boasting extreme volatility and possible payouts of up to 300,000x your stake, the game is deemed 99% unplayable by the developers themselves. Are you prepared to face what’s coming? Tombstone RIP Bonus Features
In true Nolimit City fashion, four wilds, two scatters and two different free spins bonus games round up Tombstone RIP. The highlight bonus features include xNudge Wilds, Reel Split Wilds and xSplit Wilds. Crowning the gameplay are the explicit Hang’em High free spins and Boothill free spins. Enhanced Bets is another clever feature that you might find particularly helpful when triggering free spins, but let’s get started from the top.
This is the root of all evil in the game, and you can’t escape it. Every base or bonus spin that generates a win below the base bet, triggers the xRIP feature meaning that there will be no payout.
Regular wilds here only land on reels 2-5 and substitute for all other regular symbols. Reel Split Wilds can only be seen appearing on three middle reels. These will split themselves and all other symbols on their respective reels in half. The xSplit Wild only shows up on the last reel. It doesn’t appear all that often, but when it does, it counts as 2 symbols and cuts symbols to its left in half in four predetermined ways. If the xSplit cuts the xNudge Wild in half, its multiplier doubles. xNudge Wilds are the most graphic of them all. They come stacked 3 symbols high and will always nudge up or down to full visibility at a breakneck speed, increasing their multiplier as they nudge. Appearing as hanging lowlifes and gunslingers, these types of wilds can only show on middle three reels.
Scatters come in two different forms. The Hang’em High scatters can only show on middle three reels in the base game. Landing three of these will activate 8 Hang ’em High free spins. Landing 2 will see them turn into Reel Split Wilds. The Boothill scatter can appear on the last reel in the base game and the Hang’em High free spins bonus round. Landing it together with 3 Hang’em High scatters will activate 10 Boothill free spins. If you land this scatter without triggering the Boothill free spins round, the last reel will respin, revealing a high-paying cowboy symbol. What happens next is all cowboy symbols of that same kind across the reels will turn into wilds with a random multiplier of 5x-999x. This is your one chance at winning the top prize from the base game.
Landing 3 scatters in Tombstone RIP can be a daunting task, so this is a handy little tool you can use to increase your chances at breaking into the bonus round. Look for an on/off button below the reels. It increases your bet by 10% when turned on, but it also gives you a guaranteed scatter on every spin, boosting your chances of triggering free spins. Especially handy for UK players where the bonus buy feature is off-limits.
Hang’em High Free Spins
The main event in the Hang’em High free spins bonus round is the persistent multiplier that keeps increasing each time any of the wilds hit the reels. But this round can also be a gateway into the top bonus round, Boothill free spins, if you can land a Boothill scatter on the last reel.
Boothil Free Spins
As before, the multiplier will increase with each wild type and persist on the reels for the duration of the round which is great, but not as great as the next bit. Each time you land a cowboy symbol on the last reel, all types of the same symbol across the grid will turn wild. Then, on each spin, a random multiplier of 5x up to 999x will be applied to a random cowboy symbol. You won’t know what to expect from one spin to the next, but this is where you’ll have a good chance at hitting the insane max win of up to 300,000x your stake.
Tombstone RIP Jackpot
Forget about meagre jackpots, Nolimit City is offering a big prize if you can escape your own hanging – a 300,000x win cap!
RTP and Volatility
Nolimit City has come up with their own definition for high volatility and rated Tombstone RIP as “Insane”. Also beware of dual RTP setup of 96.08% and 94.08%. But, when using the Enhanced Bet feature, you’ll increase it to 96.28% and 94.25%.
